Clarios 911 Livery Round 2
Sodium-Ion Showcar · F.A.T. Ice Race · Zell am See · 29 Jan 2027

The car is the moving billboard.

Artist Leif Podhajsky built the livery in layers: a calm base with room for the logo, one bold statement element on the hood, and micrographics that reward a second look.

Everything from round two in one place: nine livery routes, seven statement elements and three micrographic sheets, each with the thinking behind it.

How we got here

Short version of the decisions that shaped round two. Each one shows up again in the sections below.

  1. 15 – 16 OctMood board, first draftsShared a livery board with Leif. His first drafts came back strong, with one catch: some spots still used the old Clarios logo.
  2. 21 OctDirections side by sideEvery direction gets a side view so the routes can be compared fairly in the deck.
  3. 26 OctBase first, statement secondCalm space around the logo worked. The base still read as background, so the team asked for one big bold element that carries the message.
  4. 28 OctElement must mean somethingA pretty rock is not enough. It should recall one of the four elements: salt, wood, iron, air. The hood is the best spot for it.
  5. 29 OctChrome as an accentChrome bounces well against purples and blues and gives a restrained Y2K feel. It is applied as real chrome vinyl on top, never as a printed effect.
  6. 30 OctRound two deliveredNew mockups, an element folder and chrome micrographics. Fine-tuning will move to flat layouts for exact positioning.

Logo

Clarios logo about 10% larger, on a calm surface, in approved colours only. The label reads “Sodium-Ion Technology” and does not repeat “Clarios”.

F.A.T.

The Ice Race partner gets integrated into the livery as part of the design.

Windows

Micrographic stickers are welcome on rear and side windows, never in the middle of the windshield.

Chrome

Chrome on large elements and selected micrographics, as vinyl. The effect is not printed.

Palette

Teal, deep purple and navy for now. The Dynamic Energy symbol is never used as a pattern or in parts.

Facts

Clarios engineers validate all micrograph content before it goes on the car.

Liveries

Each route is a different answer to the same question: how does sodium-ion look on a Porsche 911 Dakar? Pick a route, switch the view, or put two routes against each other.

Elements

The statement piece. Leif explored crystals and chrome forms, all rendered to sit on the hood where the car has room for a feature.

Why a crystal

Salt, translated into an object. The idea started as an abstract crystal that micrographics can orbit, so the main piece feels like the statement and not like background.

What it must do

Recall one of the four elements (salt, wood, iron, air), stay one or two pieces at most so the car does not feel cluttered, and leave blank space for the logos.

Micrographics

The quiet layer. Up close they tell the sodium-ion story in lab and engineering details; from a distance the main artwork carries the car. Drag across a sheet to move from flat to chrome vinyl.

Fact checkClarios engineers review every claim on these sheets before print. Open points: the cold-performance figure (−40 °C versus −25 °C), module numbers and test codes, and the wording of the lockup.
